By exploring evidence, identifying biases, and considering both supportive and contradictory data, you can foster smarter, more resilient decision-making.

Key Assumption

Identify the assumptions you're making in each category:

  • Future: Predictions about market trends, customer behavior, or industry shifts.
  • External Environment: Assumptions about competitors, regulations, or macroeconomic factors.
  • Internal Environment: Beliefs about team capabilities, processes, or resource availability.
  • Other: Any assumptions that don’t fit neatly into the above categories.

Evidence/Proof Points

List data, case studies, or experiences that support these assumptions. Be honest and objective—only include facts, not opinions.


Supporting Data
Identify additional data points that validate or reinforce these assumptions.


Challenging Data
Include any evidence or observations that contradict or undermine the assumption. This is critical for fostering balanced thinking and mitigating risks.

  • Collaborate: Use this tool in team workshops to gain diverse perspectives.
  • Challenge Confirmation Bias: Encourage participants to seek out and acknowledge challenging data.
